Media Matters not super-keen on SEIU unionizing its employees || by Mary Katharine Ham

One for the hypocrisy hall of fame:

Media Matters for America is apparently resisting an effort by Service Employees International Union Local 500 to unionize its staff.

Last week, the union filed a representation petition with the National Labor Relations Board, indicating that the nonprofit media watchdog organization rejected an effort by the union to organize MMFA’s staff through a Card Check election.

Chambliss, Isakson, 23 GOP Colleagues Call on Administration to Immediately Rescind Rule Giving Unions a Carve-out from Obamacare

Senators warn they will consider options such as the Congressional Review Act to prevent the rule from taking effect.

By the office of Senator Saxby Chambliss

U.S. Senators Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., and Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., joined 23 of their Republican colleagues Thursday in calling on the Obama administration to immediately rescind its rule creating an unwarranted special carve-out for some unions from Obamacare fees.

In a letter to Office of Management and Budget Director Sylvia Burwell, the senators wrote: “We write to express deep disappointment that your agency has approved a final rule creating an unwarranted special carveout benefitting certain unions over other Americans. We demand that the rule be immediately rescinded or we will consider using options such as the Congressional Review Act to stop the rule from going into effect.”

Milwaukee board members may have violated ethics code in ‘living wage’ vote || By Adam Tobias

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Two Milwaukee County Board members instrumental in passing a living wage ordinance may have violated the county’s code of ethics by accepting campaign contributions from Big Labor groups likely to benefit from the legislation.

At least two people with ties to Service Employees International Union agencies also appear to have defied the code by making contributions to the campaign of board Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic.

County Supervisor David Bowen, who wrote the ordinance with help from SEIU representatives, also received campaign contributions from several SEIU-affiliated leaders while working on his living wage proposal.

The Milwaukee County code of ethics prohibits public officials from accepting anything of value from any person if it reasonably could be considered as a reward or is expected to influence that official’s vote or actions.

Chapter 9.05(2)(k) also states, “No person(s) with a personal financial interest in the approval or denial of a contract or proposal being considered by a county department or with an agency funded and regulated by a county department, shall make a campaign contribution to any county elected official who has approval authority over that contract or proposal during its consideration.”

BIG BAD LABOR Raising Hundreds of Millions to Take At Least FIVE States From GOP Governors and Contr Author || By Jerry McConnell

Look at this face above.  Is he crying, smiling, screaming, spraying spittle on the camera, or threatening the American public voters?  If you answered, “All of the above”,  you would probably be correct.  He might even be stomping his feet tantrum-like as well.

That face belongs to the most powerful organized labor movement official. He is AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka and he is hopping mad at me for writing a column in Canada Free Press on February 22, 2014, about the faults (and yes, the stupidity) of Minimum Wage Increases.

Now, of course I don’t know that to be a fact as I am not on the societal level of discourse with a madman of his caliber; and he doesn’t ever phone me anymore – (and never has.) But when I first looked at that photo, I could FEEL him doing all of the verbs assembled in the first paragraph and vowing to get the IRS to shut me down with both index fingers pointing at the thought of me and my audacity to disagree with his MINWAG support while, among other things, crying, smiling, screaming, spraying spittle on the camera, and threatening the American public voters and me in particular.

Now is that conduct unbecoming of a major organized BIG LABOR LEADER?  Well, of course not.  That is S.O.P. or Standard Obnoxious Performance for ANY normal un-American big labor leader who thrives in putting down anyone who dares to, by the same token, put him down.  And by pointing out how stupid, incorrect, faulty and I might even add, childish, the premise of “lift(ing) millions of Americans out of poverty, and help millions more work their way out of poverty.”
